Welcome to the new Forum. This is the 4th version of our forum, so as you would expect, I pretty much know what works and what doesn't.

There are a few rules. Sorry, but we need rules. If you read to the end of this, you will have read them all. My moderator (the big smiley bloke) and myself will enforce them without exception.

1. Registration

Yes, you have to register to view or post on the forum. This protects everyone's privacy and keeps out the snoopers & spammers. When you register, you will be sent an Email with an activation link. As soon as you click this, you should be able to get into the forum. For the sake of everyone else on the forum, please fill out as much of the profile as you can. Towards the bottom of the profile you will find fields regarding your time at and connections to the DYRMS. These are especially important.

For similar reasons, I would like you to all use your real names where it says "real name". There is a field underneath (User Title) for nicknames and the like.

Location. City or Town would be nice. Things like "s**thole" and "In Bed" don't help much.

This is not just me being nosey, our forum is a community of people - Dukie Old Boys, Current Dukies, Westbourne Girlies, Dover Grammar Girlies, Friends, Relatives and loons. It helps the current and new members a great deal if they know who they are talking to. I know from Emails and talking to people at Old Boys Weekends that the thing that puts more people off from posting on the forum is not knowing who everyone is. We need to encourage more people to post. On the last forum, I had 80 members and only 15 or so that actually posted regularly.

The more the merrier, I hope you will agree.

As soon as you register, I need to fiddle with your profile a bit. I will move your avatar's across from the old forum and I will also update your number of posts to reflect the number you made on the old forum too. You will not have to start as a first former again!! In any case, I have made the ranks easier to get anyway.

Update 12th May 2007. It has come to my attention that some of you are having trouble registering or activating you membership. I don't know why this is but I am really sorry for any annoyance caused. If you prefer, just Email me at dyrms86@gmail.com and will set you up myself. Please let me know who you are, where you are and what you are up to in the Email so I can put in your profile for everyone to see. Hopefully this will be a same day service.

2. Etiquette

We are all adults. There is no swearing filter and in over 5 years I have only ever deleted 2 posts due to their content. Stan and myself are pretty fair-minded individuals and we trust everyone to use their best judgement. Please do so.

Please also use your common sense when using avatars, personal photos and signature graphics. If you want to post a link to something that you think may offend  others, please warn everyone concerned first before they click.

3. There Is No Rule 3.

Hands up who thought this would be a long list?
