Imagine my surprise (no…actually do it, don’t pretend) when a letter hit my doormat this morning offering me participation in a diabetes medicine trial. 8 weeks of being prodded, pricked and drained at a private hospital not far from here. A total of 9 days and nights residential time and a lot of early morning outpatient appointments and after it all….£2,800 for my trouble.
