…or is it?

Hey dudes. This may be my last blog before Christmas. I have so much going on at the moment and every day between now and Christmas day is filled with stuff.

Once more, I worked on Saturday, thankfully for the last time this year. I don’t really mind doing the Saturday thing. It’s a bit more relaxed than the Monday to Friday thing and I could certainly do with the extra money. It certainly compresses the weekend into a few coffees in front of the TV while The Antiques Roadshow is on, which is slightly weird. After work on Saturday, I went out for Chinese with some good friends from work and confirmed finally that you cannot have a good time when sober and surrounded by drinkers. Yes, we have all heard from those who think otherwise but alas, Saturday was the last nail in the coffin for that argument. You sit there, trying to find stuff as funny as everyone else, trying not to notice every passing minute but it doesn’t work. You remain clinically aware of what time it is and that a drunk man at the next table in a stripey jumper who may or may not be gay is not the funniest thing on the planet.

Quite sad really. It was still nice, just not brilliant, although that may have more to do with the fact that something brought on the worst migraine I have had in about 5 years at about 11 O’Clock. I managed to drive home and lie down on the bed, but by 4.30am, my head still felt like it was going to split open. Sometime around dawn, I lost conciousness for about 5 hours and that was my lot. I stumbled out of bed around lunchtime still tasting egg fried rice and still feeling as full as a banana. This lasted all day. I’m not quite sure what it was - the food, the 3 pints of diet pepsi I drank over the course of the evening or maybe just December catching up with me.

The not-drinking was thanks to a taxi from my house into town costing £30 by the way. Alcohol is not-recommended in combination with my medication but not forbidden entirely.

So that’s the weekend. It’s 9am on Monday and it feels like I just got in from work. Ho Hum.

I handed out Christmas cards to my team on Saturday. Most were surprised and pleased by the gesture, some took the envelopes home unopened and 2 left the envelopes unopened on the desk. Not a bad percentage really. The whole process was turned from mundane to brilliance by new best friend’s inability to spell “thanks”. You had to be there.

Must dash, I have a pewter tankard to clean.
