…and so it ends. Following hurtful comments made by the young Wilkes, I am ending my blog.
Just kidding.
Seriously though, the young lad does have a point.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that there are something like 15 million blogs in the world. This does include Myspace and MSN Places and a fair few other similar things, but however you look at it, thats an awful lot of people writing an awful lot of words. Would that an awful lot of people read them too.
As a blogger of almost 2 years now, I feel qualified to spout lyrical about blogging. I suspect many bloggers just empty their head onto their blog and care little who reads what they write. Writing a blog is a strange beast, being a mix of diary and soapbox and a great many people like the idea of many strangers reading their pseudo-profound nonsense. Alas, the truth is probably much different. My readership is still in double figures and I am quite happy with that. To tell the truth, I don’t write for the world - just about 10 of you actually. Every other reader is a bonus. If I have nothing to write, I don’t write.
Some write, some steal stuff from other parts of the web, some just copy and paste bits and pieces. Whatever they do, its up to them to do it, just as its up to us whether we read it or not.
Here Here , I never did I a diary and a blog was a way of keeping tabs and movement on the monster that is me.[ In visual & audio form ]
I don’t care who really reads it , it’s for my chums to know whats going on and its far more up to date than the generic email that some send out once a year.
See, I do read yours as well as most of the others you list in your ‘list of blogs’ including Stans’. Claim to fame.. my first blog entry which refers to me without being written by me (as far as I know)
I think some encouragement is required to blog !
