Geek week
I just got in and checked out the forum. What geeks we are. I am blown away by the computer literacy and tech nerdiness of my forum buddies. I continue to live and learn.
What a day at work today. I was looking after a team at work, a team which counts 2 deaf people amongst its number. I like them both but find myself (and I probably not alone in this) in heavy internal conflict in my dealings with them. Part of me is overly concious of this PC society we live in and it is this half of me that makes every effort not to treat them as overly special whilst the other half of me is endlessly guilty at ignoring them. To make matters more complicated, one of these nice people has told me that she finds it difficult to lip-read through my beard and that I make it harder by not talking slowly enough.
Anyway. Now they have fallen out and I tried my best to be fair and kind during a difficult day. Maybe I am overthinking the whole thing and certainly I wish I could stop thinking about it now and make this headache go away.
